- THE CATHOLIC VALUE OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE -
- STEWARDSHIP TO CHURCH, SCHOOL, AND COMMUNITY -

“I have come not to be served but to serve”
Jesus of Nazareth.

The king will say to those on his right: “Come. You have my father’s blessing! Inherit
the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you
gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed
me, naked and you clothed me. I was ill and you comforted me, in prison and you came to
visit me… as often as you did it for one of the least of my brothers and sisters, you did
it for me.”
-Matthew 25: 34-36, 40

Note to parents: A fundamental aspect of faith development is service. ALL Pope John Paul
II Catholic High School students are to involve themselves in a variety of service activities
within their church, local community, or school. These activities should serve the needs of
the church and the society, especially the needs of the poor, sick, elderly, and young children.
Students are also invited to participate in retreats, workshops, and training programs to better
enable themselves to serve others. It should be noted that a minimum of 50% of the
student’s required service hours must be performed within the church community. This
brochure explains the philosophy of our service program, as well as lists the requirements. It
is strongly recommended that students complete their service requirements during the
summer. Please note the date when the minimum service records are due. Thank you for your
interest and cooperation in teaching our students the importance of the Catholic value of
Christian Service as demonstrated in service to church and community.
