Student Clubs and Extracurricular Activities

Open Membership Clubs

STUDENT COUNCIL Provides an opportunity to lead the student body by acting as liaisons to the school’s administration.
CHOIR Provides the chance for those who enjoy the art of choral music to perform by participating in liturgical events.
FINE ARTS CLUB Provides the opportunity to expose students to visual arts and photography.
HISTORY CLUB Provides an opportunity for students to discuss historical events and issues. The purpose of the club is to promote historical awareness across the campus and to preserve PJP history and traditions. The club also allows opportunities for historical research.
MATH CLUB Provides an opportunity to discuss and investigate various fields of mathematics in a social atmosphere as opposed to the traditional classroom. The club encourages students who are interested in math and competition.
MOCK TRIAL TEAM Provides a competitive opportunity to learn law procedure, debating skills, and the court system. The team competes with schools across the state by arguing hypothetical cases developed by the Louisiana Bar Association.
SCIENCE CLUB Provides an opportunity for PJP students to explore and discuss scientific and environmental issues that affect the PJP community.
RETREAT TEAM Provides service opportunities for our students to lead Catholic retreats for fellow students and elementary school students.
FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES Provides an opportunity for faith development for student-athletes in a club atmosphere.
CAMPUS MINISTRY TEAM Provides an opportunity for students to organize liturgical events for the Pope John Paul community.

Honor Societies

MU ALPHA THETA Membership in the National Mathematical Honor Society is offered to students who have demonstrated an interest and proficiency in mathematics. Criteria for selection is based on the student’s participation in the Math Club, math grade point average, and math courses completed in addition to the criteria set forth by the National Charter of Mu Alpha Theta.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Membership in the Archbishop Hannan Chapter is an honor and a responsibility. Invitation for membership is based on high scholastic average, outstanding character, unselfish service, leadership ability, and the criteria set forth by the National Charter of National Honor Society.


Publications

JAGUAR JOURNAL Produced in conjunction with the Publication I & II classes. These classes are comprised of students interested in writing for the newspaper and contributing to PJP’s image and history. Other interested writers or photographers should contact the Jaguar Journal moderator.
YEARBOOK

Production of the PJP yearbook staff. It is the contribution of both the academic class and those PJP students who wish to donate their time in the composition of the printed book and DVD.
