Need to send your PJP transcript?

Use the Transcript Request Form (or get one from outside of Mr. Clavier's office!). Make sure you complete each form in its entirety and provide all necessary information. You must fill out a separate request form for each destination.

If you are applying to a public Louisiana college or university, your transcript can usually be downloaded through the Student Transcript Service if your parent completed an STS Consent Form at the beginning of the year. However, if you have been asked directly and personally by a public Louisiana university for a transcript, complete a transcript request form.

Return your completed transcript request form to the secure box outside of Mr. Clavier's office. Transcript requests will generally be completed within two school days after the receipt of your request. Any emergency requests (i.e. transcript must be sent within a school day) must be discussed with Mr. Clavier, Mrs. Doucet or the front office directly. Do NOT submit a request form that must be fulfilled during the same day. Plan ahead and avoid deadline emergencies!

 

Need a letter of recommendation for your applications?

Use the Letter of Recommendation Request Form (or get one from outside the Counseling and Guidance offices!). Make sure you complete the form fully, and provide all necessary information, and a resume for each of your writers. You will need to complete a separate form for each writer and each destination.

You'll need to speak with each recommender personally with your request and resume. Without a resume, the information included in your letters will be up to the discretion of your writers. You must request a letter of recommendation to be written and sent at least two weeks before a deadline. Any emergency requests with shorter notices are up to the discretion of your recommenders.

Colleges

Use the Colleges section to organize schools you're considering, schools your applying, ask for feedback from your counselor on your schools of interest, etc. Additionally, research schools through the SuperMatch college search function or College Match, compare colleges, browse schools you may already know of, and even look at enrichment programs offered by schools you may be interested in! This section also has a Scholarships and Money area where you can search and match with potential scholarships, organize your scholarship application process, and explore the national scholarship search database.

Careers

The Careers section is an invaluable tool in considering your life's work. Use the  Explore Careers and Clusters function to review general career areas, and favorite the ones that interest you. This section also includes amazing career and personality profilers. We suggest taking all of the following - the information you receive from these inventories is incredible!

About Me

The About Me section gives you access to the same Career inventories listed above, but also offers a few new inventories, as well! If you haven't already, complete the StrengthsExplorer inventory. This inventory presents you with three "themes" that are your areas of natural talent - use these themes and report results to help guide you in the direction of possible career paths! Not sure what your learning style is just yet? Take the Learning Style Inventory - the results you get here extend beyond what you do in school. Want a better idea of where your natural intelligence and strengths fall? Take the MI Advantage assessment to get results that describe your personal talents and abilities!

The About Me section also organizes your favorite colleges, careers and career clusters, allows you to build an online resume to keep track of your accomplishments and involvements, and contains a journal to help organize your thoughts. College is expensive! Make searching and applying for scholarships during your Senior year a priority. 
 

Financial Aid encompasses several types of resources and funding available to help students and families afford education expenses. The four primary categories of financial aid are:

1. Scholarships - typically awarded based on academic achievements, specific talents, leadership, or service. These are not repaid and are generally awarded annually. Scholarships can be either need or merit-based. Students get scholarships from state programs, colleges or universities, or private programs.
2. Grants - typically awarded based on financial need and are not repaid. Grants generally come from federal and state programs, with the federal Pell Grant being the most common. Sometimes, schools and private programs award grants. 
3. Loans - generally must be repaid and may or may not be based on need. Educational loans can come from the federal government, schools, or private sources. Students and parents are able to take out loans to cover educational costs.
4. Work-Study - usually awarded based on need. Students are paired with on-campus jobs to help students with their college expenses.

Juniors and Seniors are allowed three excused absences during the first three quarters of the academic year. Your visit day must be approved ahead of time to be considered excused:

• Get a College Visit Permission Form here or outside of Mr. Clavier's office
• Complete the form with all necessary information
• Obtain parent and teacher signatures
• Turn the completed form in at the front office before your visit
• When you return to school after your visit, you must bring a letter from the college or a tour/visit agenda to the front office.

 

College Representative Visits

A lot of colleges and universities from across the country send representatives to PJP each year to talk to students about their programs and to answer questions. This is the time to discuss life on campus, majors, learning communities, extra-curricular activities, costs to attend and the admissions process. Students and Parents are welcome to visit with them. 

On-Campus Visits

PJP is happy to host colleges, universities, training programs, military branches, etc. for tabling during our lunch hour. Lunch visit dates will be updated below as they are scheduled.

Off-Campus Visits, Forums, Sessions, etc.

Colleges and Universities will often host forums, meet and greets, and panels in the Northshore and New Orleans area. Check back often for updates throughout the year regarding these local opportunities.
