During Friday's assembly, Mrs. Kilroy presented the Chevron "Athlete of the Week" award to Lincoln Oertling. This honor was bestowed on the PJP senior during football season; but due to unforeseen circumstances, the company was unable to come to campus to make the presentation. Chosen for his efforts on and off the field, Lincoln has proven leadership by his involvement in student council, ambassadors and more. He inspires others to follow their faith as a Eucharistic Minister. He motivates his fellow athletes in football, tennis and soccer - where he's been selected to all-state, all-district, and even MVP honors. Oertling is well on his way to success at the collegiate level, with hopes of becoming a pediatric dentist. This year, he was chosen for this award for his efforts during the football season, where he's been selected as first team, all-district punter.
To win this award, applicants must be a senior, Louisiana resident, participate in sports for at least 3 years and maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. All Chevron weekly winners will be invited to a Pelicans home game, where one male and one female will receive a $5,000 scholarship. We wish Lincoln all our best in his future endeavors.
