PJP swimmers participated in the Metro Championships on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 5 & 6) at Franco's in Mandeville. There were 31 teams swimming, with more than 3/4 of those teams being from Divisions I, II, and III. Our Division IV Jags swam well at Friday's preliminary heats, qualifying for several event finals on Saturday.
Jaguar swimmers gave it their all on Saturday, with the girls finishing 11th in the 200-yard Medley Relay and 7th in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. The boys placed 9th in their 200-yard Medley Relay and 8th in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. Several Jaguar swimmers competed in individual event finals, but the star swimmer on Saturday was Freshman Mady Hill. In addition to being part of the girls' medley and freestyle relays, she placed 2nd overall in the 50-yard Freestyle and 2nd overall in the 100-yard Butterfly. Congratulations, Mady!!
Final meet results had PJP's girls in 10th place overall, and PJP's boys in 10th place as well. That made the JAGS the highest placed Division IV team at the meet! Our Jaguar swimmers will now focus on the state swim meet which will take place in Sulphur on Wednesday and Thursday, November 17 and 18. With the success we had competing this weekend against teams from larger divisions, the future looks bright for PJP swim. We look forward to competing at state finals. GO JAGS!!
